For artists, packing usually takes place after a work is completed and before it is transported. Packaging materials, tape, and scissors form a necessary yet easily overlooked procedure, used to protect equipment, artworks, and the fragile states of things that have not yet arrived at the exhibition site.
In Packing, the scissors originally used to cut packaging materials and complete the packing process are instead wrapped in bubble wrap. Once the tool is sealed away, the actions of cutting and opening are temporarily suspended. The work turns this behind-the-scenes preparation into a visible state: what we see is a site still held between protection, waiting, and interruption. What is wrapped is not a single object, but the act of packing itself.
