Bubble wrap often appears during processes of moving, tidying, and storage as a material used to protect objects. It cushions impact and shields things from external force, yet once the object is removed, it often becomes a temporary leftover.
Unfolding the Packaging begins with the relationship between a projector and bubble wrap. In the video, the projector repeatedly appears between states of being wrapped, unfolded, and put away; in the exhibition space, this video is projected onto the surface of bubble wrap. A material originally used to protect image equipment is transformed into a screen that receives the image. As the projector projects the process of its own wrapping and unwrapping, the packaging material, the machine, and the image form a loop. The time in which an object is protected, taken out, and viewed is unfolded again through the wrinkles, reflections, and texture of the bubble wrap.
