Regardless of their identity, the fact that they are human makes all cross-species researchers have an established setting that they cannot “cross.” This limitation can pose challenges within the realm of natural sciences. When humans themselves are unable to transform into other entities, it raises questions about our ability to comprehend another set of entirely distinct languages, systems, and structures. As a core theme of contemporary art, being a human has become the first issue that the artists face—processing, transfer, and replacement of identity changes as they enter different fields. “Dis-placed Landscapes” brings together eight groups of works developed on the topics of human beings, natural ecology, and the environment. On the premise of reminding the identity of “human beings,” this exhibition aims to emphasize the “displacement” of the “landscape” seen from someone’s eyes. It can be said that you can observe anything from totally different perspectives. This replacement means blurring and disrupting the world’s perception system after species change and, on the other hand, stimulating the artist’s deliberate control in the creative context. How artificial replacement technology reconfigures to generate responses, responding through differences in distances, viewing dimensions, and perceptual pathways—as a creative approach for research topics involving cross-species studies. “Landscapes” serves as a metaphor for the “changing scenes” of environment and ecology, reflecting its political views and how it embodies the posture of the viewers. With the “displacement” and “interweaved” in artists’ creations, scenery emerges. “Dis-placed Landscapes” provides a path for contemporary humans to escape, critique, and even redraw the postmodern landscape. It showcases how eight groups of artists attempt to transcend and create landscapes that reflect the current era. The diversity, openness, and reflexivity of contemporary art have become the best “organic platform” for variant points of view.
